| I can't believe I'm an official alumna of Howard High School. I know, I know... everyone says that in the "obligatory post-graduation post," but I really am still kind of in shock. The last few weeks of school went by ridiculously fast, and the workload in the classes didn't slow down until the very end. Being finished with high school felt so sudden, even though we've been anxiously awaiting its end for so long. It's crazy going from waking up at 5:30 am each morning to my current lifestyle of luxuriously sleeping til 10 (although, today I had to get up before 8 to walk Finn to school in the torrential downpour of rain). At first, I reveled in the freedom and laziness of the days (and I continue to do so), but after about a week I started feeling a little restless - I loved always having some kind of "project" during the school year to work on. I'm looking forward to the start of teaching swim lessons, lifeguarding, going to California, and performing at a concert next month. (I actually had a chance to relive my "Over Here" days last weekend when I sang two Andrews sisters hits with two other ladies). I would also love to go to NYC again this summer and see another Broadway show and do a little shopping.
This past week has been fun, with endless graduation parties and nice, relatively uncrowded days at the pool. Anni and I had our joint grad party, which was fun- it was great to see everyone, and we had an unbelievable amount of food. We still have leftover cake at my house two days later, which is saying something, considering most of my sibs have been eating it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner ever since the party.
Hope you guys have a great summer- I don't use xanga nearly as much as Facebook these days (isn't it amazing?), but I do love the old blog. I found this thing below on Christea's livejournal and it was cute, so feel free to leave a comment.
Leave me a comment and... 1. I’ll respond with something random about you 2. I’ll challenge you to try something 3. I’ll pick a color that I associate with you 4. I’ll tell you something I like about you 5. I’ll tell you my first/clearest memory of you 6. I’ll tell you what animal you remind me of 7. I’ll ask you something I’ve always wanted to ask you 8. If I do this for you, you must post this on yours

| Hey my loves... so I was just reading my xangamail and it was all the same old updaters, but then i noticed jessica updated and that just sort of inspired me and led me back to my long-lost xanga weblog entry box. It is a snow day, which is nice, because even though there's nothing to do, there's something refreshing knowing that this is an academically enriching school day i will never get back. I went to cheesecake with my four friends then anni like made a pilgrimage to nordstrom to buy alligator shoes but they were gone... that's life. I recently read Anthony Rapp's debut novel, "Without You: A Memoir of Love, Loss, & the Musical RENT" and i will say this: the man can write. It has been one of my most fulfilling literary experiences since like novemberish, when i lost interest in anything not somehow related to rent-- you guys know the feeling? In other news, I recertified my lifeguard license this week through an intense twelve-hour training course- so watch out swimmers, harps is back for another season of water action. I also took on a weekly babysitting job for these two nice kids every thurs 4:30-11... should be lucrative. I'm going to outline (aka read "Alice On Her Way"... those books are beyond brilliant). ~Harper | | |
| Ok, I admit it- I sold my soul to myspace, but i was feeling kinda bad for xanga so im back for a visit. Plus im not really fluent enough in myspace yet to manipulate the "blog" feature Last night was our last marching band football game ever... it was sort of surreal; i still remember our first one. Afterward, we had cake and went to Shadowland. I had never been there before and it was not at all how i pictured (which was a big shiny flat arena with kids running around with long pointy glo-sticks, in case you were curious) and actually kinda fun. This year is going by fast- im done applying to college (except i dont think guidance actually sent the stuff yet but whatevs) and its already time for christmas and showcase and all that comes with it Have a great weekend everybody- oh and come to FAME! at glenelg at 7:30 tonight cuz i basically am.

| So, looks like Band Camp 2005 is pretty much over. It was actually not thaaaaaat bad this year and I realized that maybe everything is not as bad as i say it is and i should start appreciating these things more because soon they will be gone and then i'll complain that i miss them. I saw all these old graduates come back to Howard to watch and it kinda depressed me thinking that we all hate it so much now and these kids are like, "Man, these were the days!" I don't know, maybe I will adopt a more positive attitude. (Probably not actually though.) Juicy details about Pool Prom as promised: not actually the juiciest night in the world, but i did eat this embarrassingly massive dish called Tour of Italy. (Not all of it, of course. ) Oh and I really like my staff and I miss Cori. It's sad to see the summer ending but I think I'm kinda ready to close the PLP doors in a couple weeks- even though i hope our staff can still have weekly cookouts because they are all just the cutest. The pool management is just sort of wearing me down, but ya know, not all bosses rock, so it's great preparation for The Real World.
Oh so I know everyone is stressing over whether or not i'm in your classes so here's the long-awaited schedule: 1)Band 2)Madrigals 3)Marine Science 4)World History AP/English 12 AP 5) Psychology AP 6) Statistics AP
